Last but not least, an adventure to round off the year.  And it was quite that.  We left the car at the edge of Brecon and started walking up into the hills at around 3:45pm.  We started climbing the Brecon Beacons around 4:45pm (not Norwegian summertime).  We summitted Pen-y-Fan in the cloud, wind and dark, at around 6:30pm.  Danger rating: too high to tell parents.  But we had our spoons, thank goodness.  By 8pm, we were out of danger, pitched by a little tarn on a bed of moss.  And after posh pot noodles, tea and half a cookie, we had a cosy night’s sleep.  The next day, off to the mighty Fan-y-Big and a beautiful valley, sprinkled with my beloved Sphagnum.  The best way to end a wonderful year.
